A portion of a 1up review…
Maybe Dragon Quest’s popularity in the west will never match its success overseas, but at least those who give this chapter a chance can enjoy one of the deepest, most engrossing portable RPGs ever.

Yoshinori Ono is heading to Comic-Con, and he has some big plans. While he’ll mostly be talking about Street Fighter IV, we also know that he’s been toiling away at a secret project. According to a recent Tweet from Ono, he may reveal some tidbits during his panel.
I finally hope to reveal a bit about what I’ve been relentlessly working on lately..But there is Evo2010 first…and I haven’t packed yet!
Well, we’ll certainly keep our eyes peeled for any details on this mystery project. I wonder what it could end up being! Thanks to Johnny4 for the heads up.
I think my most memorable Zelda memories come from my adventure through The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past. I played through that game side-by-side with my Mom, as she’s a big Zelda fan as well. We were so addicted to the game that we actually brought our Super Nintendo down to my grandmother’s house when traveling for a family function. During the day we chatted with family, and at night we went adventuring!
“You can’t plow a field every year,” he says. “Once every three years – or once every something – you have to let it breathe. You have to let the minerals back in. I think it’s the same thing with any license, really.” – Ubisoft Montreal’s Jean Francois Boivin
It’s funny to hear Ubisoft saying this. They have some franchise that they’ve left to breath for far too long (Beyond Good and Evil), and others that have been involved in yearly sequels for a number of years now (Rabbids). Perhaps they need to pay a little bit closer attention to what they’re saying!
Could Square-Enix be up to yet another Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles game? It certainly sounds like it, as the company has just filed a European trademark for the name ‘Knights of Crystal’. Now, this could be a subtitle to a game, and it seems like it would fit perfectly in the FFCC universe. I’m ready for some more multiplayer Final Fantasy action. How about you guys?
Art Style: Rotozoa has been out for awhile now, and while we pushed the Art Style hub site, we didn’t make specific mention of this page opening. Reader Kappa wanted us to give it a push, and I have no issues with that! I’ve been addicted to AS: Rotozoa for awhile now, and I really think it’s worth checking out. All the Art Style games are fantastic, and this one is no exception!
Ubisoft UK marketing boss Murray Pannel has said that Ubisoft is a ‘big fan’ of 3D technology. Oddly enough, during this conversation the 3DS is never brought up. The discussion leans towards 3D gaming on consoles through 3D-capable television sets. I don’t know about you, but I really like Nintendo’s sure-to-be cheaper option. At least we know that Ubisoft enjoys 3D, so we should see lots of support outside of what they’ve announced thus far.
“What excites me even more [than 3DS games] is that there’s technology built in that device to really combat piracy. The problem with the DS market in the last few years, particularly with the DS Lite, is that it’s just been attacked by piracy. It’s made it almost impossible to shift any significant volume. The DSi combated it a little bit, but the 3DS has taken that a step further. I actually asked Nintendo to explain the technology and they said it’s very difficult to do so because it’s so sophisticated. They combated the piracy on Dsi, which they don’t believe is cracked yet – but they know they’ve been hurt across the world and they believe the 3DS has got technology that can stop that. Therefore the opportunity for people to invest more in product development [on the system] and bring more 3DS products to market comes out of that. It’s going to probably cost us more to do it all in 3D – so we want to make sure we get a return on our investment when we do it.” – THQ’s executive VP of global publishing Ian Curran
Nintendo has lost millions on piracy, so you can bet that the 3DS will be at the forefront of piracy technology. The only question is, how long can Nintendo hold the pirates out?
